A lot of Springfield and Eugene was built before 1978, and those houses can have lead paint in them. Once you start cutting, sanding or tearing out, that becomes a real question — for the people living there, and for whoever is doing the work.
Robb holds Oregon's Lead Based Paint Renovation certification, which is the credential the law actually requires before anyone disturbs paint in a home of that age. It covers how the work area is contained, how dust is handled and how the site is cleaned up afterward.
It is not a marketing badge. It is a licence endorsement the state issues and can revoke, and plenty of outfits bidding on the same older house will not hold one. If your house predates 1978, ask every contractor who bids whether they are lead-safe certified. It is a fair question, and the answer is a matter of public record.
